About Us

Our Story

We are Baton Rouge’s Premier Latin Dance Company, uniting community of all ages through dance!

Salsa Ardiente Dance Company was founded in Tri-Cities, Tennessee in 2007.  After 5 years of successfully pioneering what is today a thriving latin dance community in that region, a new opportunity arose to replicate the movement’s success here in Baton Rouge.

Today, with our partners Bayou Movimiento (NOLA), we are privileged to be a part of this new and growing latin dance scene. Besides our traditional dance classes, Salsa Ardiente teaches and performs at local schools, festivals and even company lunch hours, using dance as a platform to get people moving and enjoying life!  We have been teaching and performing in Louisiana for more than 3 years and look forward to what the future holds.

Sarita Rayna

Founder, Instructor

Sarita Atiles Rayna is originally from Orlando, FL, and at age 12 her family moved to the mountains of John City, Tennessee. Her love for teaching and dancing emerged in 2005 while using Latin music to teach Aqua Aerobics to senior citizens. After her first exposure to live salsa music & dancing at "Salsa Pa'lante" (Melas - Asheville, NC) her Boricua roots came alive! This affirmation was the catalyst to unite a local salsa team, named by her father, Efrain Atiles (a Puertorican Percussionist) in 2007 called Salsa Ardiente.
